Liposuction
Body contouring with liposuction offers the ideal way to to remove stubborn fatty deposits gently and provide the body with a harmonious appearance.
In principle, liposuction is suitable for anyone who is disturbed by resistant fatty deposits (genetically predisposed to storing fat).
It is definitely not a substitute for a healthy diet and weight management for the overweight.
In women, the critical areas are the hips, thighs (so called saddlebags), abdomen, buttocks, knees, calves, upper arms, chin (double chin) or the cheeks that may detract from satisfaction in their physique and a desire for change.
Prudent implementation of this procedure and an elastic skin produces very good results.
How is liposuction performed?
Techniques in liposuction have been keenly refined since its beginnings in the early 70s. Today the procedure is very gentle on tissues and seldom displays any side-effects when a limit of approximately 2 - 3 litres of pure fat is removed. We use the gentle tumescent infiltration process whereby a corresponding volume of tumescent solution to that of fat that is to be removed is introduced into the tissue. Moreover, we have detected a significant advantage in ultrasonic vibration lipolysis, that is the most modern method od liposuction to date. The special suction cannula is set in motion by an electric motor and performs a minimal to and from action. The cannula may thus avoid connective tissues, nerves and vessels satisfactorily. In this way, swelling is limited, haematoma (bruises) become rarer or completely absent and the result is more harmonious and smooth.
The operation is relatively free of risk, however a bruise may slow healing and in rare cases, scar reduction may negatively influence the result.
Operation
The desired result shall be discussed with the patient prior to surgery. Several litres of saline solution shall be injected through the skin into the fatty tissue in order to soften it, so that the fatty cells are separated from the tissue and prepared for extraction.
The skin over the area of extraction area becomes taut, and the suction process of the fatty tissue, that now has a soft consistency, may proceed gently via the vacuum pump and through the micro-cannula (approximately 1.5 mm in diameter).
Micro-instruments also precludes internal bleeding, nerve or lymphatic vessel damage. A total of 3-5 litres of body fat may be removed per operation.
Subcutaneous fat extraction also causes a shrinking effect, whereby the skin shrinks, little by little, and adopts the new shape of the body – thus creating a smooth and even complexion.
What is more, the reduced fatty cells are not reconstituted.
Post-operation
A custom corset is fitted directly after surgery.
The compression garments should be worn for 6 - 8 weeks as this aids shrinkage of the skin. The tumescent solution drains from the entry channels for a couple of hours after the operation. Many patients suffer a sensation of ?aching muscles? in the area that had been operated for some days after surgery. Most patients may return to work after 2-3 days and generally feel well after only 24 hours.
Normal physical activities may be resumed after two weeks. One may appreciate the final result after 3 - 5 months.
