Subcutaneous injection of autologous fat is becoming relevant by the day. Its main advantage is its using the body’s own fat to fill wrinkles and no foreign materials.
As with liposuction, the fatty tissue is initially extracted (from the desired region) and, following appropriate treatment, injected into the area the area to be augmented – during the same session. The treatment is usually performed on an out-patient basis.
This treatment is particularly suited to deep wrinkles, such as the nasolabial folds, sunken cheeks and surgical scars.

The fat that has been injected generally adheres, however after a while a portion is dissolved, thus requiring a further corrective session in order to achieve an optimal aesthetic effect.
This type of subcutaneous injection is significantly more expensive than that with hyaluronic acid but the effects last longer.
