Effective period of wrinke injection with botulinum toxin
Botulinum toxin therapy has proved to be a very effective treatment of excessive perspiration. In effect, it is protein produced by bacteria that is injected under the skin and leads to a specific blockage of sweat glands thereby limiting perspiration.
It takes 2-5 days to take effect, though optimum outcome is usually observed after about 2 weeks. On rare occasion, the effect may be attenuated or totally absent, and the reason for this is unknown. It has been suspected that a prior vaccination (tetanus) has provided relative immunity to the botulinum toxin.
As a rule, the treatment lasts for 3-8 months, sometimes longer.
Unlimited repeated treatment is possible, when tolerated well.
