Wrinkle injections - wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin

Wrinkles and excessive facial expressions that cause them in the first place, may be treated with botulinum toxin A.

Continual, conscious and unconscious, contraction of certain mimetic muscles give the face a tensed or strained appearance and lead to wrinkles within these regions (e.g. frown lines, crows’ feet or wrinkles on the forehead).

Procedure of wrinkle injections (wrinkle treatment) with botulinum toxin
Subsequent to prior discussion, explanation and identification of regions, the medication (botulinum toxin) is injected in a very dilute solution in the region to be treated. The patient experiences these small punctures and the treated region is then cooled.

Side-effects
Generally there is nothing to observe after treatment except some redness that may be covered. On rare occasions, there may be small haematomas. Slight nausea, fatigue, joint pains, skin rash, itching, allergic reactions, mouth and eye dryness or infection at the site of injection may be experienced temporarily.
The diffusion of botulinum toxin in adjacent muscle groups may temporarily lead to the weaking of these muscles. However, this occurs rarely and the effect usually disappears within a few weeks.
Long-term side effects are not known.
We shall inform you of all risks and side-effects in our counselling session.
